Adobe to put Yahoo ads alongside PDF's

Ok people, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL.  Just read this story at BBC.co.uk and makes me feel glad to not use the bloat called Acrobat Reader, I have been using the FoxIt reader since v6 of Acrobat Reader came out because there was no way I could believe that they needed to make a reader of over 10MB do the same as one of around 2MB. Please anyone who reads this use FoxIt, it’s cheap on bandwidth and does a damn fine job.

Network not accessible and NetBT error when repairing Connection

I had the following issues after using a 3G card yesterday

  • Could not access any file servers on the domain
  • Could ping the file servers
  • Could use RDP and VNC to any machine on the network
  • Could use IP based applications, i.e. POP3, IMAP and HTTP/S

I tried an utility called WinSockXPFix which does some registry hacks, which allowed me to work for all of 10 seconds, as soon a the logon script started up all access crashed again.

What I eventually did was uninstall all the network adapters, as just removing the problem one did not help. Rebooted, and let Windows reinstall the drivers.

So far all works still after 30 minutes, a record so far Smile

Must be one of the funnies blunders I have ever seen.

Sticky Shift key

I have been getting really annoyed with a sticky shift key. I has been happening on and off for quite a while, and I think I found the problem. Something goes nuts in Synergy and causes the sticky on the remote machines. What is interesting is that only the right shift key activates the stickyness and the left key deactivates. I suppose if I was not a “touch” typest it would not bother me much.
